It is an entrance examination designed for students who want to enrol in undergraduate medical courses offered by either government or private medical colleges in India. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Age Limit:
Minimum Age: 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission.1 of the year of admission.
The qualification must be recognized by the concerned medical regulatory authority in the country where the institution is located.
Upper Age Limit:
For General category candidates: 25 years.
For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates: 30 years.
The age limit is subject to change based on the latest regulations
Educational Qualification:
Cleared 12th grade (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
Minimum Marks Required 12th grade (or equivalent):
General category: At least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology combined.
SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates: At least 40% aggregate marks.
PwD Candidates: At least 45% aggregate marks.
Number of Attempts:
There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET-UG as far as the age criteria is met.
Domicile and Residence:
It is advised that candidates must check specific eligibility criteria related to domicile and residence when making application for state quotas or specific colleges, as different states and institutions may have additional requirements.
Medical Fitness:
Candidates must be medically fit to pursue medical education. The medical fitness criteria are generally assessed at the time of admission to medical colleges.
