Szekesfehervar, colloquially known as Fehérvár, is a city in centre Hungary and the ninth-largest city in the country. It is the regional capital of Central Transdanubia, as well as the administrative Centre of Fejér County and the Szekesfehervar District. The area serves as a vital rail and road interchange between Lake Balaton and Lake Velence. Szekesfehervar is one of Hungary’s wealthiest cities, thanks to the presence of Hungarian and international firms in these sectors. As a result, university students can easily apply their newly acquired knowledge and gain work experience. Szekesfehervar goes to great lengths to prepare for future challenges. Szekesfehervar’s economy remains one of the most diverse, with key sectors including mechatronics, electronics, software, the food industry, and logistics. The municipality established the Prosperis Alba Research Centre in 2018 to involve future generations in analysis and scientific research for the development of the city. This initiative could also help Szekesfehervar maintain its position as a driving force in innovation among dynamically developing Central European cities.
