    PG counselling is the centralized process through which eligible candidates are allotted postgraduate medical seats (MD/MS/DNB/Diploma) in India based on their NEET-PG scores.

    • All India Quota (AIQ) – 50% seats in government colleges
    • State Quota – 50% seats in state government colleges
    • Deemed/Private Universities
    • Central Institutes (e.g., AIIMS, JIPMER)
    • Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS)
    • Institutional/Internal quotas (for in-service candidates)

    Candidates having a valid NEET-PG score, MBBS degree and are registered with MCI/NMC or State Medical Council are eligible to apply.

    Typically, the following rounds are conducted:

    • Round 1
    • Round 2
    • Mop-up round
    • Stray vacancy round

    Yes, the MCC and State Counselling bodies charge registration and security fees, which vary by category and type of institute (government or private). Fees are usually refundable if no seat is allotted.

    Yes, you can accept the seat and opt for upgradation in the next round. However, if you do not join after allotment, you may be penalized or lose eligibility for further rounds depending on the rules.
