Miskolc is the county seat of the Borsod-Abaj-Zemplén megye (county) in northeastern Hungary. It is located on the eastern edge of the Bükk limestone plateau, in the valley of the Szinva, a small tributary of the Sajó River. The University of Miskolc has a one-of-a-kind campus in a beautiful natural setting, modern laboratories, lecture halls, workshops, dormitories, and facilities for sports, culture, and entertainment. The majority of the university’s buildings can be found in Egyetemváros “University Town,” a unique and spacious campus built in the style of the American campus model and surrounded by a large park. The University Town, with an area of 850.000 square meters, is part of the city of Miskolc. The University has collaboration agreements with over 150 foreign universities, as well as 160 bilateral agreements through the ERASMUS mobility program. In 2008, the University of Miskolc became the first Hungarian institution to receive the ‘Higher Education Quality Award.’
